iOS 14 support for Trimble Mapping & GIS apps
Post created by Gareth Gibson
On September 16th 2020, Apple announced the availability of iOS 14 as a free software update for iOS devices (available on iPhone 6S and newer). We are pleased to advise that Trimble Mapping & GIS iOS app versions are compatible with iOS 14, with no known bugs or issues associated to this OS update.

Affected Trimble Mapping & GIS apps:
Trimble Mobile Manager
Trimble TerraFlex
Trimble GNSS Status
Apple have added new privacy related features in iOS 14. Now users can choose to share their approximate location with app developers rather than their precise location when granting an app location access, and get even more transparency into an app’s use of the microphone and camera. Later this year, App Store product pages will feature summaries of developers’ self-reported privacy practices, displayed in a simple, easy-to-read format.
It is important for users to grant Location Access to Trimble apps, but to also ensure that Precise Location is enabled to ensure that full accuracy positions are used by Trimble software. General Location Access and the Precise Location feature is enabled by default when installing Trimble apps, and is accessible per App through the iOS Settings Menu.
